Company management: Management and Supervisory Board

The Student Loan Centre is a non-profit company limited by shares. The company is exclusively owned by the Hungary State and the owner’s rights are exercised by Magyar Fejlesztési Bank Zrt. (MFB Zrt.).

In operating the student loan system, the Student Loan Centre has the following main tasks:

  • record-keeping of customers,
  • disbursement of student loans,
  • management of credit accounts,
  • collection of placed loans,
  • management of the Student Loan as a product,
  • providing the resources required for the disbursement of student loans,
  • coordination of the partner institutions participating in the student loan system.


Members of the Supervisory Board:


Mária Farkas - Chair of the Supervisory Board since 1 September 2011;

Born on 9 December 1955, she earned a degree in economics specialising in industrial design and organisation at the Budapest University of Economics in 1985. Qualified as a chartered accountant in 1991, as a  tax consultant in 1993, and passed her stock exchange qualification exam in 1995.

Registered auditor since 1992; her current membership status is “suspended at her own request”. Worked for industrial and trading companies until 1992 in the areas of organisation, business management and accounting as a mid-level manager in various positions (head of department, head of division). Chief accountant at  ROLITRON Biolektronikai Rt, a trading company, and Innofinance Pénzintézeti Rt. between 1990 and 1992.

Registered auditor in managerial positions at KPMG and Deloitte & Touche  between 1992 and 1998; managed the auditing of annual financial reports and reports related to transformations and share and bond issues for production and trading companies, as well as credit and financial institutions, also providing accounting and related consultancy services.

Chief accountant at Magyar Fejlesztési Bank Rt. as managing director between 1998 and 2002. Served as chair of the Supervisory Board for various business organisations between 1998 and 2002, representing Magyar Fejlesztési Bank Rt.

From June 2003 worked at Központi Elszámolóház és Értéktár (Budapest) Zrt. (KELER), where she was involved in regulatory and accounting consultancy services related to the issue of licences to operate as a specialised credit institution; from November 2003 led the internal audit organisation.

Since 2010 CEO-level consultant at Magyar Fejlesztési Bank Zrt.

Besides being chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Student Loan Centre since 1 September 2011,  she has also been a member of the Supervisory Board of Mecsekerdő Zrt. and chairman of the Supervisory Board of Szalók Holding Zrt.  since August 2010. 


Dénes Jobbágy – Member of the Supervisory Board since 1 September 2011;

Born in 1961 in Budapest, he earned his electrical engineering degree from the Technical University of Budapest in 1984 and  his Ph.D. in computer engineering in 1991.

Born in Budapest in 1961 He continued his studies and training  in France, the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada.

Between 1984 and 1990 he worked as a software developer then as a team leader at VIDEOTON Fejlesztési Intézet. Until 1992  he was consultant to the Vice President of Műszertechnika Holding Kft. and then Data Communications Manager.

Between 1993 and 1995 he was CEO of Hungaro DigiTel Kft., a Hungarian-Portugal joint venture, green field company.

In 1996 Mr. Jobbágy worked as the Deputy Marketing Director of MATÁV Rt. and member of the Executive Board.

Between 1997 and 2001 he was CEO of Novacom Távközlési Kft., a German-owned company (with a controlling interest by the RWE Group) , and was also active in the liberalisation process in the Hungarian telecommunications market as one of the founders of  Távközlési Érdekegyeztető Fórum Alternatív Táblája.

Between 2001 and 2002 he worked as the Deputy CIO of the State Budget Agency and member of the Board of Directors of EXIM Bank .

Between 2002 and 2010 he acted as a consultant and project manager. Among other things, he worked for the  state budget committee of the Hungarian Parliament and one of the Budapest districts, was involved in the review of the Unified Telecommunications  Act, and coordinated the introduction of an integrated IT system supporting EU tenders in  a neighbouring country.

Currently he is consultant to the CEO of Magyar Fejlesztési Bank Zrt. In addition to his membership of the  Supervisory Board of Diákhitel Zrt., he also sits on the Supervisory Board of Terra Invest Zrt.

He has a high level of proficiency in English and is the father of three adult children. 


Zoltán Urbán – Member of the Supervisory Board since 1 November 2010

Born  in 1960 , he earned a  degree  in economics  at the Budapest  University of Economics  in 1984 . Between 1992–1996 he participated in a number of communication and  organisational development training courses at Dale Carnegie and then worked as an assistant trainer  on company training courses. In 1994 he spent two months at Wharton, in  Philadelphia. In 1996 he completed the PhD  training of the College of Finance and Accounting and since 2004 he participated at various trainings on  company financing and investments organized by Euromoney and Globecon.

He has 20 years of experience in the Hungarian banking sector: his career began in 1993 at the

International Department of the cooperatively-owned Iparbankház Rt. In 1993 he was the manager of the operational money and capital market  department of OTP, then he headed the business division of the company. He then worked as Managing Director of the Structured Financing Division of HypoVereinsbank  Hungária Rt., the Deputy Chief Financial Officer and member of the Board of Directors of Magyar Fejlesztési Bank Rt. between 2001-2002 , then Managing Director and  member of the board of directors of Dresdner Bank Hungária. He has been head of the Budapest representative office of the Landesbank Baden-Württemberg since October  1994. He has been Deputy CEO and member of the Board of Directors of  Magyar Fejlesztési Bank Zrt. since June 2010.

He is fluent in English and German and also speaks  some Russian and Swedish.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Garantiqa Hitelgarancia Zrt., Déli Áramlat Zrt. and

head of the Supervisory Board of  ITDH

He is married with two children at grammar school.
