The Student Loan Centre is a private company limited by shares. It was established to operate the student loan system and disburse student loans. With certain exceptions, the provisions of the Credit Market Laws (abbreviated as Hpt. in Hungarian) and other laws on credit institutions do not apply to the Student Loan Centre. The legal status and the main tasks of the Company are determined by the Government Decree on the student loan system and on the Student Loan Centre, the Companies Act and the Public Finance Act.
In addition to providing student loans, the Company also may carry out brokerage activities according to Annex 2, Section I/12 b) of the Hpt. without endangering the fulfilment of its primary objective and core activities and with compliance of the relevant laws on privacy as well as the approval of the entity exercising owner rights.
The Student Loan Centre keeps records of its clients including the personal identification data of the borrower, data and information relevant to the contract, its performance and the targeted interest subsidy as well as all other data the law requires or permits to register.
