Social responsibility

The core activity of the Student Loan Centre plays a significant social role in and of itself. In terms of the student loan system, a complex regulatory, operational and financing system had to be developed, one that meets the following social and educational policy expectations:

Opportunity – Increased access to higher education and social mobility, i.e. to create the opportunity to ensure that every single talented and ambitious young adult can participate in higher education, regardless of their own financial conditions or those of their families.

Universality – General access under equal terms and free to use. Repayment conditions set to ensure that the financial obligations can be undertaken by anyone. Students should not only be equally entitled but also equally capable of taking advantage of the credit opportunity.

Indirect financing of higher education – Support for maintaining quality higher education generally available to the general public by providing complementary financial resources to students.

The Student Loan Centre operates as a responsible social player that goes well beyond its core activities.

Improved financial culture – We actively work on improving the financial culture and expanding the financial knowledge of young adults. As part of that commitment, in 2008 we established a Foundation for Conscious Financial Decisions (Tudatos Pénzügyekért Alapítvány) in cooperation with the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) and the Hungarian Financial Supervisory Authority (PSZÁF). The name of the foundation changed to Money Compass Foundation (Pénziránytű Alapítvány) in March 2010.

Environmental protecion – Our company is committed to reducing the environmental pollution resulting from its operations. We regularly deliver the paper and electronic waste generated during our operations to companies involved in recycling.
