What services are available at Student Loan Direct?

Through its user-friendly website, the Student Loan Centre offers services that make administration relating to the loan contract easier, with a view to saving our customers time and money.

Services available at Student Loan Direct:

You will receive all information from the Student Loan Centre through electronic mail. You can read your mail in your Student Loan Direct account, which allows you to respond faster and to collect information about your contract in a timely manner.

You can monitor when and how much money was transferred to you. You can review when your monthly payment or early payment will be accounted. You can check your current balance and the debt remaining.

You can report electronically numerous changes in your details, which you had to indicate by post or in person before. These include:

  • Changes in your study-related details
  • Changes in your contact details (phone number, email, mailing address)
  • Changes in your bank account number
  • Suspension or reactivation of disbursement
  • Suspension of your student status
  • Termination of your student status
  • Modification of the amount of the loan
  • Modification of the frequency of disbursement
  • Request for a reduction in your monthly repayment
  • Modification of the statement you made upon the conclusion of your loan contract

 

 
Do I have to pay a fee to use Student Loan Direct?

The services of Student Loan Direct are available for free of charge to all our clients.

 
Who is eligible for a student loan?

The services offered by Student Loan Direct are available to all clients with a valid Student Loan contract.

 
Can I report any changes in my details without creating a Student Loan Direct account?

You can complete data change and request forms without logging in through the Submission of Forms menu at the homepage of Student Loan Direct. However, registration and having an account allows you to report any changes in your details quickly and conveniently. If you do not have a Student Loan account, you have to print out the completed form and send it to Student Loan Centre Zrt. through the post, or take it to the company in person.

How the Student Loan functions

 
When is my account activated after I have submitted my Student Loan Direct contract at a post office / bank branch / savings cooperative branch?

Your Student Loan Direct contract is activated when the Student Loan Centre receives your signed hard copy form. If the terms of the contract are met, your account is activated within 5-7 working days of the arrival of your form.

 

 
How can I activate my Student Loan Direct account?

The Student Loan Centre will send an email to the address you provided us. You can activate your account by clicking on the link in the email.

 

 
How can I log in to my Student Loan Direct account?

You can access Student Loan Direct from the www.diakhitel.hu website. In order to log in, you will need your ID number, which is your contract number, and your password.

When you log in for the first time, you will have to use a temporary password sent to the email address indicated in your contract. Once logged in, you will be asked to change your temporary password.

From this time on, you will be able to log in with your new password. If your ID number and password are valid, an email will be sent to your email address with your secondary password, which will allow you to log in to your account.

 

 
Are the old type of forms still accepted?

In parallel with the introduction of Student Loan Direct, hard copy forms were withdrawn from use. They are not available either at the website of the Student Loan Centre or from customer service. If you still have hard copy forms and would like to use them for reporting data changes, the Student Loan Centre will accept them.

However, the online forms available at Student Loan Direct make administration faster and more convenient. Using your account, you can report most of the data changes that you previously had to report through the post or in person electronically to the Student Loan Centre.

 

 
What should I do if I forget my password?

If you forget your password, contact our call centre or customer service, or write an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. in order to request a temporary password. After the verification of your identity, we will send a temporary password to your email address. Please change your temporary password upon your next login. In future you will have to use the new password you created to access your Student Loan Direct account.

 

 
What do I have to do if I forgot my ID number? / What is my ID number?

Your ID number is identical with the number of your loan contract. The ID number consists of 8 digits. If your contract number is shorter, please add zeros before the contract number until the total number of digits is 8.

You can find your contract number in the upper left corner of your loan application form. If you need help, call our call centre on 06 40 240 024 and ask for an administrator.

 

 
What do I need to do if my Student Loan Direct account has been disabled? / How can activate my Student Loan Direct account if I have mistakenly disabled it?

If your Student Loan Direct account has been disabled, contact the call centre at 06 40 240 024, visit the customer service of Student Loan Centre (1027 Budapest Csalogány utca 9-11.), or write an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. How can I change my password?

To change your password, log in to your Student Loan Direct account, and select the “Change password” option in the „Change login data" menu.

 

 
What do I have to do if I forget my email address?

If you forget the email address you provided us earlier, after your identification you can register a new email address by phoning our call centre, a personal visit to our customer service, or writing an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Can I check my current balance at Student Loan Direct?

Once you have logged in to your Student Loan Direct account, you can find information on your current balance on the homepage. You can also review your detailed balance by clicking on the “Balance” option in the “Transactions & Balance” dropdown menu.

 

 
Can I see check how much I owe at Student Loan Direct?

Can I check at Student Loan Direct when and how much money the Student Loan Centre transferred to me?

Once you have logged in to your Student Loan Direct account, you can review your account history by clicking on the “Transactions” option in the “Transactions & Balance” menu. Can I check my repayment history at Student Loan Direct?

Once you have logged in to your Student Loan Direct account, you can review your account history by clicking on the “Transactions” option in the “Transactions & Balance” menu. Your account history tells you when and how much money you received from and transferred to the Student Loan Centre. You can also filter the data, which allows you to search by specific criteria.

 

 
Can I make a transfer from the Student Loan Direct website? Can I transfer my regular monthly repayments and make prepayments from the Student Loan Direct website?

No, you cannot make transfers from the Student Loan Direct website. You will have to make your payments through bank transfers, as usual. Your installments should be on the bank account of Student Loan Centre (10032000-01800126-00000000) by the 5th day of every month. You can transfer your monthly repayments from any account. However, to make your identification easier, please indicate your contract number and name in the Details section of the transfer order. When making a prepayment, in addition to your contract number and name please also put the word “prepayment” in the Details section of the transfer order.

Once you have logged in to your Student Loan Direct account, you can review your account history by clicking on the “Balance” option in the “Transactions & Balance” menu, which allows you to monitor your transfers.

 

 
Can I check at Student Loan Direct whether my university or college has confirmed my student status?

To check the confirmation, log into your Student Loan Direct account, select the “Queries” menu, and select “Study-related details” in the tree structure. Then click on the “Display selected information” button at the bottom of the page.

 

 
Can I find information at Student Loan Direct about the number of semesters for which I can still receive a Student Loan?

To check the number of semesters for which you can still receive a Student Loan, log in to your Student Loan Direct account, select the “Queries” menu, and select “Study-related Details” in the tree structure. Then, click on the “Display selected information” button at the bottom of the page.

 

 
May I request all notifications and letters to be sent to me in electronic format?

Once you have logged in to your Student Loan Direct account, you can change the channel through which you will be informed by Student Loan Centre Zrt. Click on the “Change communication channel” item in the „Change log in data” menu to select the channel through which you want to informed in the future. You have postal service or electronic channel to choose from. If you choose electronic channel, you will receive letters from us in this way, except for registered letters and registered letters with acknowledgement of receipt.

 

 
How can I check my mails at Student Loan Direct?

To check your mails, log in to your Student Loan Direct account and select the “Notifications” menu.

When a notification is sent to your Student Loan Direct account, we also send an e-mail about it to the address you provided to us.

 

 
How can I terminate my Student Loan Direct contract?/ How can I cancel my Student Loan Direct contract?

Without logging in:

You can cancel your Student Loan Direct contract in the “Applications” menu item. After you have entered your personal information, you can select the data you want to change. You can select the “Cancellation of Student Loan Direct contract” option from the tree structure of “Personal information”. Once you have filled in the fields, the system automatically creates a PDF document entitled “Cancellation of Student Loan Direct contract”. Print the document, and send it through the post to the Student Loan Centre (Diákhitel Központ Zrt. 1996 Budapest), or submit it at the Student Loan Centre Zrt’s customer service (1027 Budapest, Csalogány utca 9-11.).

 

After logging in:

After you have logged in at the “Applications” menu point, select the “Cancellation of Student Loan Direct contract” option from the “Personal information”tree structure . Once you have filled in the fields, the system automatically creates a PDF document entitled “Cancellation of Student Loan Direct contract”. After you have logged in and completed the form, it will be automatically sent to the Student Loan Centre Zrt.

 

 
Is the information stored in the system up-to-date?

The system of Student Loan Direct always displays up-to-date information regarding your personal and study-related details. However, your account history will start on the date when your contract comes into effect.

 

 
How and when can I find out whether my data changes have been implemented?

Your details stored at the Student Loan Direct website are updated within 2 or 3 working days. To check if your details have been updated, log in to your Student Loan Direct account and select the “Notifications” menu. When a notification is sent to your Student Loan Direct account, we also send an e-mail about it to the address you provided to us.

 

 
How can I check what details are stored in the system regarding my contract?

To check your contract details stored in the system, log in to your Student Loan Direct account and select the “Queries” menu. From the tree structure select the details you would like to see, and click on the “Display selected information” button.

 

 
I made a mistake when completing my Student Loan Direct contract, but I realised it only after printing it. So I have tried to set up a new contract, but the system won’t let me. What should I do?

Once you have completed a Student Loan Direct contract and sent it to us in electronic format, you are not allowed to fill in another form. It applies even if you have not submitted your hard copy form at a designated location. Please contact the call centre of Student Loan Centre on 06 40 240 024 for help. Once our colleagues have cancelled your incorrect request, you can complete a new Student Loan Direct contract.

How can I apply for a Student Loan?

If you would like to apply for a Student Loan, click on the Student Loan Direct login window at www.diakhitel.hu, or visit www.diakhiteldirekt.hu. You can complete the loan application form in the “Loan Application” menu on the homepage. After you have filled in the fields, the system automatically creates your loan application form and loan contract in PDF format. Please print the documents, and submit them at any of our partner institutions or at the Student Loan Centre’s customer service. Please take your personal identity documents and tax card with you.

Personal identity documents:

  • Old ID (booklet format)
  • New ID (card format)
  • Passport
  • Driving licence issued after 1 January 2001
  • Identity card proving the refugee status of the holder
  • Identity card proving the permanent resident/immigrant status of the holder
  • Document proving that an EEA citizen has the right to stay in Hungary (registration certificate, residence card, residence permit, permanent residence card).

You can also apply for a Student Loan through an authorised representative. If you choose this option, it is important that your representative should have the appropriate documents with him/her at the time of submitting the forms.

(S)he is required to have a document to prove that you have authorised him/her to enter into a contract on your behalf, and a document proving his/her identity as well. The required content of the authorisation is defined in Point 21. d.) of the Business Rules of the Student Loan Centre. The Business Rules of the Student Loan Centre can be downloaded from the www.diakhitel.hu website.

Please bear in mind that all forms must be signed at the place of submission, in the presence of the administrator!

Your loan contract becomes effective when the Student Loan Centre receives the hard copy of your form with a valid signature on it.

 
If I make a loan contract, will I automatically have a Student Loan Direct account as well?

The conclusion of a loan contract does imply that you have a Student Loan Direct account.

If you are a new loan applicant, please start by clicking on the Loan Application menu item. At the end of the loan application form you can make a statement that you would like to make a Student Loan Direct contract. If you do so, the system automatically prepares the Student Loan Direct contract, using the data you provided in the loan application form. It is important that you provide an email address in the loan application process. Please print the completed form and submit it at any of our partner institutions or at the Student Loan Centre’s customer service. Please take your personal identity documents and tax card with you.

Personal identity documents:

  • Old ID (booklet format)
  • New ID (card format)
  • Passport
  • Driving licence issued after 1 January 2001
  • Identity card proving the refugee status of the holder
  • Identity card proving the permanent resident/immigrant status of the holder
  • Document proving that an EEA citizen has the right to stay in Hungary (registration certificate, residence card, residence permit, permanent residence card).

If you have made a Student Loan Direct contract, you will be informed about your new account in email. You can activate your account by clicking on the link in the email. After you have logged in to your account, you can check the status of your loan application.

Yes, you can also conclude a Student Loan Direct contract in person at the Student Loan Centre customer service. It is important that you take your personal identity documents and tax card with you.

  • Driving licence issued after 1 January 2001
  • Identity card proving the refugee status of the holder
  • Identity card proving the permanent resident/immigrant status of the holder

Application for Student Loan is closed between May 16, 2012 and September 14, 2012. Claims will be accepted again for Fall semester after August 15, 2012.
