In order to mitigate the unfavourable impacts of the world economic crisis, the students whose repayment is based on their salary and if they are in the third year after their repayment obligation began and who do not make a repayment based on the minimum wage have the option to request for a reduction in their repayments from the Student Loan Centre. No other than the students whose contract had to be terminated by the Student Loan Centre under the law are deprived from this option.
The Student Loan Centre permits the reduction of the prepayment instalment without checking the existing reasons for a maximum period of 24 months. The amount of the reduced instalment may vary from person to person depending on the loan amount, and it may not be lower than the minimum repayment instalment amount specified for the current year on the basis of the minimum wage as on October 31 of the previous year (determined on the basis of 6, 8 or 9% repayment ratio).
The application for the reduction of the repayment instalment may be initiated through the Student Loan Direct, and the reduced repayment instalment may be approved from the month following the receipt of the application.
You should know that the duration of the repayment of the Student Loan may lengthen due to the reduction of the instalment.
