The students who are still eligible for Student Loan but have requested for the suspension of its disbursement previously can receive it again. To resume disbursement you should log in to Student Loan Direct, then sign and send the application to the Student Loan Centre (Diákhitel Központ Zrt. 1996 Budapest).
You can get a loan of up to five months per semester (i.e. a full semester). You cannot get a Student Loan for a period longer than one semester retrospectively.
If your application is received by the Student Loan Centre between the 1st and 15th days of a month within the semester, your loan will be disbursed from the following month, however in case of the receipt of your application between the 15th and 31st day of the month, your loan will be transferred only from the second month following the reception of your application. You can only get the loan if you meet the disbursement criteria.
If the Student Loan Centre receives your application before the 15th day of the specific month within the semester, we will transfer your loan in the following month.
The total amount of the loan for the semester is disbursed retrospectively.
You need to submit your application before 15 December in the autumn semester and before 15 May in the spring semester. If we receive your application later, the Student Loan will be disbursed for you again only from the following semester.
If you have applied for a monthly disbursement of your Student Loan in an amount of HUF 30,000 and now you request us to continue the disbursement of your loan before October 15, we will transfer HUF 90,000 to your account on 15 November and then HUF 30,000 for each subsequent month.
You can request for the suspension of the loan disbursement, which means you can use the loan even for a single semester. To suspend disbursement, log in to Student Loan Direct, then fill in and send the application to the mailing address of the Student Loan Centre (Diákhitel Központ Zrt. 1996 Budapest).
Disbursement of the loan is suspended from the date indicated in the form by you or from the month when your application is received.
If the disbursement days are not preceded by the date indicated in the application or by the date of the receipt of the application at least with 5 days, then we can suspend the disbursement only from the following month.
Disbursement is suspended until the date specified in the form or when your request for the resumption of the disbursement is received.
How is it possible that you have suspended disbursement of your Student Loan and you still receive the money?
If you specify March 1 or October 1 as the initial date of suspension, you still get the loan amount for September or February, respectively. Why? Because the disbursement begins only in the middle of the second month (October and March) each semester. This is necessary to allow the Student Loan Centre to check with the student status in cooperation with the Student Affairs Office to make sure that the specific student has enrolled for the semester (one of the conditions for disbursement of the loan is the active student status). In the middle of the second month you will receive the loan amount for both months and if you requested for payment in a lump sum payment for the semester, this is when you get the loan amount for the whole semester.
If you do not want to get your Student Loan from the particular semester, you have to specify the starting date of the semester (1 September 1 or 1 February) in the form as the date of the suspension of the loan disbursement.
What do you have to do to receive the loan amount in a lump sum for the full semester instead of the monthly instalments you have received so far?
Log in to the Student Loan Direct, then fill in and send your application to the mailing address of the Student Loan Centre (Diákhitel Központ Zrt. 1996 Budapest).
If we receive the application form until the 1st day of the of the disbursement month*, we will transfer the full semester amount to your bank account without any confirmation.
- In the autumn semester: October (this is when you get your loan amount for September as well), November, December and January,
- In the spring semester: March (this is when you get your loan amount for February as well), April, May and June
If we receive your application before 1 October, we transfer the whole loan amount for the semester to your bank account in a lump sum on 15 October 15 (HUF 150,000 if you borrow HUF 30,000 per month). If we receive your application between 2 October and 1 November, we transfer the remaining amount for the semester to your bank account in a lump sum on November 15 (HUF 90,000 if you borrow HUF 30,000 per month).
You can settle your debt in a lump sum and then terminate your loan contract. You need to write a termination notice. The loan agreement will terminate on the 15th day of the receipt of the notice, and then you will have 8 days to pay off the total debt accrued by then (principal, interest, fees) in a lump sum.
Please consider your options carefully before terminating your contract. If you only want to suspend disbursement of the loan, you do not need to terminate the contract.
After your termination notice is received, the Student Loan Centre prepares closing accounts. Once you pay off your debt, we inform you about the termination of your contract in writing. If you have overpaid your account, we transfer the amount increased with the interest for default to your bank account.
If you fail to pay off your debt, the Student Loan Centre has the option to collect the outstanding amount through the tax authority.
If you intend to terminate your loan contract, you should log in to the Student Loan Direct, sign the document and send it to the mailing address of the Student Loan Centre (Diákhitel Központ Zrt. 1996 Budapest).
